The "SBMO/IEEE MTT-S INTERNATIONAL MICROWAVE AND OPTOELECTRONICS CONFERENCE" is an already traditional event promoted by the Brazilian Microwave and Optoelectronics Society (SBMO) since 1985. The main purpose of the Symposium is to promote the meeting of engineers, technical and researches on the microwave and optoelectronic's field and other related areas, seeking for the disclosure of scientific and technological studies, spread of science and technology and training and update of human resources. Besides, it's a unique opportunity, at national and international level, of technical, scientific and even commercial contacts.

 

The event will take place for the second time in the north of the country, allowing a single opportunity in order for the professionals in this and order related areas to participate in a high level event.

 

The event programming will count, besides the presentation of technical/scientific articles, with talks leaded by featured professionals in Brazil and abroad and with minicourses and topics of current interest, poster sessions, expositions and panels.

 

For all of those reasons and considering the actual technology and science scenario in Brazil, it's believed that the event may be of great value to all the professionals in the area and, therefore, is worth's the support of all the public and private institutions which are involved in the given areas.

 

The main theme of the event features the concerns with both the development of science and technology as an instrument of social transformation and awareness seeking for the society future. This way the theme was defined like this:
